The german Alto Rena Kleifeld studied voice at the Universities of Würzburg and Munich. Having received a scholarship she was able to deepen her studies at the Puccini Foundation New York and with Dolora Zajick. Since her Tiroler Festival debut in Erl as Rossweiße in Richard Wagner’s Walküre she is a highly welcomed guest there and also sang the Erste Magd in Richard Strauss’ Elektra and the Erste Norn in Wagner’s Götterdämmerung. With this part and Erda in Siegfried she will also make her debut in Shanghai/Asia. In 2009/10 Rena Kleifeld appeared at the Opera of Görlitz with a part of Ulrica from Verdi’s Un ballo in Maschera and from 2011-14 she could be heard in various parts at the Theatre of Hagen, e.g. as Brenda in the german first performance of Dancer in the Dark from Poul Ruders. In 2014 she made her role debut as Mary from Der Fliegende Holländer, a part which she will also sing at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf, in 2015/16. In the premiere of Daniel Schnyder’s opera Abraham, which was staged during the Düsseldorf Festival she portrayed the role of Sara successfully and she performed this in 2015 in Jerusalem/Israel as well. In 2015-16 she will sing in the Theater Kiel in R.Wagner´s Rheingold the part of Erda and she will also have her Debut in Asia in Shanghai as „Siegfried“ Erda and the Erste Norn in Götterdämmerung, with both of these parts she is invited in Tiroler Festspiele in Austria. Further will Rena Kleifeld sing the part of Filipjewna in the production of Eugen Onegin in the Theater Hagen in Germany.
Apart from being a classical singer at operas the German alto also stars in Oratorios and Passion concerts. Her repertory contains all the great works from baroque period to modern age.
